Brush Art Students Celebrate the Arts

This week, Advanced Placement (AP) & Honors Studio Art students had an adventure exploring the arts in University Circle, with the help of chaperones April Lewis, Melissa Quinlan and Michael Yasenchack.
Their first stop was The Cleveland Institute of Art, to take a tour of the facility, learn about the majors offered and visit the annual Student Independent Exhibition. The Director of the Gallery housing the exhibit is Nichole Woods, a highly accomplished Brush graduate. Three Brush students are also graduating from the Institute this year!
Their next stop was The Cleveland Museum of Natural History to see the Derek Hess exhibition, where Michael Yasenchack facilitated a visit from the artist himself! Derek is a world-renowned local artist who took time out of his day to speak with our students about his artmaking process and career. He also offered to visit Brush and judge the Senior Art Show! (This stop also turned up a Brush graduate, who was facilitating tours in the museum!)
Their last stop was The Cleveland Museum of Art, where students explored the galleries, gathering inspiration to help them across the finish line of the school year. And no stop would be complete without coming across another esteemed Brush graduate who was working as an engineer, coordinating all the interactive platforms in the museum!
It was a great day exploring the arts community and it was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of our amazing students - both past and present!
