Brush Chamber Orchestra Gets a Masterclass

Last week, the Brush High School Chamber Orchestra welcomed professional musicians into their classroom for a performance and masterclass session.
Through a sponsorship from the Ohio Arts Council, Daniel Pereira (Cleveland Institute of Music) and Laura Silverman joined the Chamber Orchestra for their first period class. The two played two pieces - Cello Sonata in C Major (Jean-Baptiste Breval) and Danse Rustique (William Henry Squire) - before diving into an inspiring session with the students.
Pereira shared that his passion for music began in Caracas, where he studied music throughout school. He encouraged the students to find their own passion in their craft, to commit to their talent, work together as an ensemble, and lead their listener into a journey with each piece.
He was able to demonstrate to the students how small, targeted adjustments could have big impact on the piece.
The students were exceptional participants during this masterclass and demonstrated true Arc pride!
