SEL Schools Seeks Community Feedback for Long-Term Planning
The South Euclid-Lyndhurst School District has launched an online survey to gain community feedback and inform its ongoing strategic planning process.
The survey will remain open through April 26, 2026. The district requests participation from residents in South Euclid and Lyndhurst, including current students, parents, alumni, and community and business leaders.
"Our school district is fortunate to have so many stakeholders between these two cities -- they all deserve to have a say in SEL's future," said Dr. Dominick Kaple, superintendent of SEL schools. "We would love to hear from as many of them as possible via this important survey."
The survey provides participants an opportunity to rate the district's overall direction, quality of education, and financial management. They will also be able to prioritize potential goals for the district and provide feedback on the district's communications, safety, career preparation, and more.
The survey is the latest of several inputs that the district's strategic planning committee will use to develop the goals and objectives that will guide the district's future. Euclid-based firm Burges & Burges Strategists is facilitating the planning process, and previously conducted anonymous, one-on-one interviews with community leaders and conducted listening sessions with parents, staff, and administrators. The committee, which is comprised of district teachers, parents, students, alumni, and others from South Euclid and Lyndhurst, has held two meetings, both facilitated by Burges & Burges.
"A strategic plan gives a school district a roadmap for the next three to five years, so it's only right that it is developed in partnership with a committee of dedicated residents," said Brandon Baker, a senior consultant at Burges & Burges.
Kaple added: "I'm so thankful for this committee's time and energy to ensure that the community's priorities are reflected in our operations and instruction."
Kaple and the committee will present the final strategic plan to SEL's Board of Education following its development.
