Board of Education Adopts 2027-2029 Strategic Plan

The South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools Board of Education on Aug. 18 unanimously adopted a new Strategic Plan that will guide the district from 2027 through 2029.

A community committee of more than 70 local residents, alumni, teachers, business owners, and students developed the plan. District administrators will lead the various action steps necessary to achieve the goals in the plan.

“I want to sincerely thank every member who was a part of this process,” Superintendent Dr. Dominick Kaple said shortly before the Board of Education’s vote. “Your input mattered. Your voices are reflected in this plan, and we appreciate your commitment to the students and families of the South Euclid Lyndhurst City School District.”

The plan includes six goals categorized by the following areas of focus: Academic Excellence; Life Skills & Career Readiness; Early Childhood; Culture, Engagement & Behavior; Technology & Digital Literacy; and Wellness, Mental Health & Eliminating Barriers. Each goal contains a corresponding set of objectives that administrators, teachers, students, and more will collaborate on throughout the plan’s span.

The committee met four times from March to July. Burges & Burges Strategists, a Euclid-based consulting firm, facilitated each meeting. The committee reviewed a variety of district data along with community research conducted by Burges & Burges. Research included the results from one-on-one interviews with community leaders from South Euclid and Lyndhurst; listening sessions with teachers, administrators, and parents; and a communitywide online survey that 324 people participated in this spring.

The committee analyzed these research inputs and used them to inform responses to future-focused prompts from Burges & Burges. Those responses informed the committee’s draft goals and objectives. At the Board meeting, Dr. Kaple said he wants to be held accountable for the plan and said he would provide two to three updates per year on its progress.

As part of the process, the committee also developed a new mission and vision for the district:

  • Misson: We prepare every student for success through exceptional learning, meaningful relationships, and limitless opportunities.

  • Vision: Every student will succeed through comprehensive learning opportunities that inspire excellence and prepare them for college, career, and life.
